Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the ISU Retiree health coverage a County Paid Employee must:
- Be 55 years of age or older, and
- Have been enrolled in the ISU medical and/or dental plan for 5 continuous years immediately preceding retirement*
If ineligible to continue ISU insurance, COBRA continuation coverage will be offered for up to 18 months.
Please Note: if Medicare eligible, alternative options may be more beneficial than COBRA.
*Eligibility may vary by county. Please consult with your direct supervisor to confirm your eligibility
Notification Guidelines
To ensure timely processing with insurance vendors, we recommend that employees and/or supervisors notify the ISU Benefits Office at least 3 months prior to their planned retirement date.
